Paige West of the fabulous Art Addict writes about some gallery hopping she did this week. She provides a great overview of some hot galleries and a description of each new show. As is the focus of her blog, she recommends good pieces to buy, especially for the beginning collector. One such artist is Jim Ovelman (see image) at Oliver Kamm's 5BE Gallery who:
Named after Madonna's 2nd LP, Ovelman shows new photographs, drawings, and a recreation of The Rambles in the back room." I am recommending this show to new collectors because Oliver shared with me that in this show (and most shows at his gallery) he includes a set of very affordable pieces ($125 framed) by Ovelman to appeal to a new and young collector base.
She has other great recommendations too. So, if you're in NYC, I would suggest checking these gallery exhibtions out.

1. My partner James (www.jameswagner.com) and I are big fans of Joe and his work. We were the first people to buy one of his works, at his inaugural show at Art Resources Transfer somtime in the (late?) 90s.
His guerilla outdoor wall installations are great. Here are some links to see more on those:
