With news that is so shocking, I dare to utter the following sentence…For the first time in nearly one hundred
years, the Campbell Soup company is changing from the traditional red and white labels to new, colorful labels inspired
by Andy Warhol's famous paintings from the 1960s. (Note: Did you know those were originally $100…ouch!).
While it is an obvious fact the products in popular culture impacts artists' work, this may be one of the first times
that an artist work featuring an intrepretation of the product has influenced the look of the product. Wait, my head is
spinning and I'm sure Andy Warhol's would be too. Good for him…it's rare someone can make that much of an impact onto
society. Apparently his fifteen minutes are hella long.
(Oh, and no worries, I've been completely assured that the only thing that's changed is the label. You can still
expect the same mmm-mmm-good quality soup.)

(Page 1)2. Well......
Art failed on many points. The market in the art world is worst than wih most commercial marketting.
So if Warhol influenced a Beuysian "social sculpture" up to the point that it developed the initiativity of a company to alter its designs, maybe that is the best he could achieved. The name label is still there but at least we will get a little more varied colorations on the store shelves. Sigh.
Cheers,

1. Not sure I can figure out the targetting for this new packaging promotion - contemporary art afficiandos who love non organic tomato soup? But I think it is awesome that Campbell had the sense of humor to launch commemorative soup cans in the Warhol style. I am definately getting some, to keep, not to eat.
